Golden Torch for Singing awarded to Curro Malena

In 1984 Curro Malena won the Singing Torch at the XXIII Flamenco Singing Festival Antonio Mairena. Chocolate, José Menese and José Mercé were also competing. On his way back, in a car and with the brand new trophy in his hands, he said: "the torch is in good hands. And if I am not capable of demonstrating what this trophy means, it is at my home, at the disposal of flamenco itself".

Prototype of the sculpture of Pedro Bacán, a bronze work by Augusto Arana erected in the Avenida Cruces de Mayo and inaugurated in 2007, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the death of the Lebrijan guitar master.

Gold Professional Merit Medal awarded to Juan Peña el Lebrijano

In 1999 Juan Peña el Lebrijano was awarded the Gold Professional Merit Medal, the only one awarded so far to an artist from Lebrija. It was awarded by the Council of Ministers at the proposal of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Manuel Pimentel placed the medal in the lapel of the "prince of rhythm" who gave thanks singing in Medina Azahara.

Torche d’or du Chant décernée à Curro Malena

En 1984, Curro Malena a obtenu la Torche du chant à l’occasion du 23e Festival de Cante Jondo Antonio Mairena. Les nominés étaient Chocolate, José Menese et José Mercé. Durant le trajet de retour en voiture et avec son nouveau trophée, il a exclamé : « la torche est entre de bonnes mains ! Et si je ne suis pas capable de démontrer ce que signifie ce trophée, il est chez moi, à la disposition du flamenco ».

Prototype du buste en hommage à Pedro Bacán

Prototype de la sculpture de Pedro Bacán, une œuvre en bronze d’Augusto Arana érigée dans l’Avenida Cruces de Mayo et inaugurée en 2007, à l’occasion du dixième anniversaire de la mort du maître de la guitare originaire de Lebrija.

Médaille d’or du mérite du travail décernée à Juan Peña El Lebrijano

En 1999, Juan Peña el Lebrijano s’est vu décerner la médaille d’or du mérite du travail, la seule et l’unique octroyée à un artiste de Lebrija jusqu’à la date. Décernée par le Conseil des ministres suite à la proposition du Ministère du travail et des affaires sociales. Manuel Pimentel a accroché la médaille sur le revers de la veste du « prince du compas » qui a exprimé ses remerciements en chantant à Medina Azahara.
